ON JANUARY 14, THE
UN COMMITTEE ON NGOS BEGINS THE REVIEW OF THE TRANSNATIONA RADICAL
PARTY’S SPECIAL REPORTON VIETNAM, WHILE THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
CONTINUES TO QUESTION THE TRP ACTIVITIIES WITHIN THE UNITED NATIONS.
At the 2002 session of the Commission on
Human Rights the Vietnamese Government accused Mr. Kok Ksor, member
of the delegation of the Transnational Radical Party, of being a
terrorist affiliated with the CIA. In the year 2001, the Russian
Federation, posed a series of question concerning the TRP quadrennial
report on its UN-related activities.
On January 14, the United Nations
Committee on NGOs begins the review of the “Special Report” requested
in May 2002 by the Vietnamese Government. The documents concerns Mr.
Kok Ksor, a member of the TRP member and President of the Montagnard
Foundation, who took the floor at the 58th session of the Commission
on Human Rights on behalf of the Transnational Radical Party exposing
the systematic violation of civil and political rights suffered by
the indigenous Montagnards at the hand of the Hanoi regime. Vietnam
accuses Mr. Ksor of being a terrorist and of leading a terrorist
organization based in the US called the Montagnard Foundation. Inc.
In April 2002, the Polish Chair of the Commission on Human Rights,
considered the allegations presented by the Vietnam groundless. The
Vietnamese Government brought the issue to the Committee on NGOs,
which without looking into the Polish letter, requested the TRP to
prepare a Special Report on the matter.
The review of the Special Report will begin on January 14, at the UN
Headquarters in New York, starting from 3.00 pm.
In addition to the “Special Report” the TRP will have to respond to a
list of questions posed by the Russian Federation ranging from drug
Trafficking to support for Pedophilia that were raised on the
occasion of the review of the TRP’s quadrennial report in 2001. In
the year 2000, the Economic and Social Council of the UN formally
rejected a request of suspension put forward by the Russian
Federation.
Note: As of January 2003, the United Nations Committee on NGOs is
composed of the following 19 countries: Cameroon, Chile, China,
Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire, Cuba, France, Germany, India, Iran,
Pakistan, Peru, Romania, Russian Federation, Senegal, Sudan, Turkey,
U.S.A., Zimbabwe.
